November’s already here, and you can practically feel the world slowing down for a cosy season ahead.

The days are shorter and the air is cooler. It’s only a matter of time before we’re fully into holiday mode, not just in the U.S., but across the pond in the U.K., too.

According to a recent survey in the U.K., 75% of people intend to take an overnight domestic trip over the next 12 months. Clearly, the desire to rest, recharge, and reconnect is universal.

Whether it’s planning a quick getaway or staying in with loved ones, this time of year invites us to lean into comfort. And if a movie marathon sounds like your idea of the perfect evening, you’re in luck; there’s a world of free streaming waiting for you.

Platforms like TVMuse can help you find films, but they often redirect you elsewhere. VIX Digital OTT is an excellent option, as it lets you stream great movies completely free. While it’s primarily available in the U.S., you can access its streaming libraries using a VPN.

Here, we’ve rounded up some excellent free picks on this platform, so you can just press play, relax, and enjoy the cozy season ahead.

    #1 Instructions Not Included (2013)

This 2013 film is an absolute legend of Mexican cinema. Instructions Not Included was directed by and stars the beloved comedic genius Eugenio Derbez.

The movie follows Valentín Bravo, a ladies’ man in Acapulco. His life turns upside down when a past fling shows up. She leaves a baby girl named Maggie on his doorstep. Valentín immediately sets off for Los Angeles to find the mother.

What starts as a search turns into six years of devoted fatherhood. Valentín creates a fun and carefree home for Maggie. He totally transforms from playboy to super-dad.

Valentín takes a risky job as a stuntman in LA to support Maggie. He overcomes his deepest fears for his daughter’s well-being. Maggie is bilingual and even acts as his translator on set.

To shield Maggie from the pain of abandonment, Valentín writes her letters. He makes up weekly stories from her mother. These letters detail wild adventures across the world. This protective lie shows his deep, creative love.

This film, about selfless, unconditional parental love, made over $44 million just in the U.S. domestic market. That proves its universal appeal.

    #2 The Wrong Car (2016)

Time for a sharp pivot to high-stakes suspense and modern danger. The Wrong Car is a gripping suspense drama that focuses on contemporary issues of safety in the digital age. Starring Danielle Savre and Francia Raisa, it tells the story of Trudy, a law school student.

After a rare night out, she books a “NetCar” ride home. Things take a horrifying turn when she wakes up assaulted and alone in a motel.

Drawing on her legal training, Trudy reports the crime and does everything by the book. But when the system fails her, she takes matters into her own hands. Determined to get justice, she becomes a rideshare driver herself, setting out to catch the predator before he hurts someone else.

The film hits especially hard because of its eerie relevance. Multiple women have filed Uber lawsuit cases alleging sexual assault by their drivers. Uber disclosed over 400,000 cases of sexual misconduct in the U.S. between 2017 and 2022.

TorHoerman Law notes that lawsuits blame Uber for failing to implement the necessary safety features and background checks, leading to sexual assaults by its drivers.

    #3 Mirreyes Contra Godínez (2019)

Get ready for one of Mexico’s most hilarious workplace comedies. The film’s title, Mirreyes contra Godínez, literally means “Mirreyes vs. Godínez”. This movie hilariously captures workplace rivalry, class differences, and office drama.

The movie introduces two worlds. One is the “Mirreyes,” rich, spoilt socialites who flaunt their wealth and live for parties. And the other is “Godínez,” humble, hardworking office employees who actually keep the company running.

The central player is Genaro Rodríguez, a hardworking godín. He dedicated his life to working at Kuri & Sons. He earned the founder, Don Francisco Kuri’s, complete trust. The founder’s son, Santiago, a mirrey, has no interest in the business.

When Don Francisco dies, chaos erupts immediately. The dedicated staff must fight the spoilt heirs for control of the business.

The humour is sharp, the characters are spot-on, and the performances are entertaining. But underneath all the fun, Mirreyes vs. Godínez is also a clever look at workplace dynamics and class inequality in modern Mexico.

It’s full of witty dialogue, colourful characters, and clever humour that pokes fun at social stereotypes without being mean-spirited. Plus, it gives you a playful look at Mexican workplace culture, something rarely seen in mainstream comedies.

You are officially ready for the best weekend of streaming. It features everything from a tear-jerking drama to sharp corporate satire, high-octane suspense, and a dose of chaotic romance.

No matter your mood, there’s something here that will pull you in and keep you glued to the screen. And the best part? You don’t have to worry about subscriptions, trials ending, or forgotten auto-pay renewals. VIX lets you simply press play and enjoy, no strings attached.

So, grab your coziest blanket, make a fresh bowl of popcorn, and let yourself sink into some well-deserved downtime.
